Mustang district experienced a major surge in tourism last month. Almost 80,000 tourists visited the mountainous region during the month of Kartik. This increase is largely due to the festive season.
Tourist Numbers
According to the District Police Office, 5,504 international and 73,879 domestic tourists visited Mustang in Kartik. The Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP) offices at Jomsom and Lho-Manthang recorded the international tourists. Meanwhile, the Ghasa Police Post and Lete Police Post tracked the domestic tourists.
Festive Season Impact
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) of Mustang, Bhojraj Pandey, highlighted the surge of tourists during the festivals of Dashain, Tihar, and Chhath. Nearly 14,000 vehicles entered the district to carry tourists within Mustang in a single month.
